Registration Open - SIBS 2026

The Australian Stable Isotopes in Biosphere Systems (SIBS) Workshop will take place from 30th January to 6th February 2026 at the Centre for Carbon, Water and Food, University of Sydney, Camden Campus. This year’s workshop offers an engaging week of scientific discovery, combining lectures, laboratory sessions, and field-based projects centred on the application of stable isotopes in biological and environmental research.

Participants will gain a thorough grounding in isotope theory and measurement techniques, supported by hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation such as isotope ratio mass spectrometers and laser systems. Core topics include carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen isotopes in plants, water and soil processes, palaeoclimatology, and archaeology.

Designed for students and researchers from a range of scientific disciplines, SIBS 2026 provides a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Expert instructors offer individual guidance as participants design and conduct their own research projects. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have strengthened both their technical expertise and their understanding of how isotope science contributes to solving real-world ecological and environmental challenges.
